change

It is now clear to all of us that significant Climate Change is taking place across the world, killing millions of people and progressively destroying our economies. And this is just the fuse of the bomb. The main bomb will explode when the positive feed -backs from the planet (like burning & decaying rain forests that release additional volumes of CO2 which exacerbate the problem) cause uncontrollable, runaway climate change that we can do nothing about. It is therefore self evident that we must extinguish the fuse as soon as possible.

It is also clear that if we are to achieve this, we must take the latest advice from scientists, which is to reduce our carbon dioxide emissions by a huge 80% to 90% by 2030, within the context of an all inclusive international framework, not 60% by 2050 as per the government's current target. They tell us that this massive cut is required to avoid a 2 degree increase in temperature which would lead to the total melting of the Greenland & West Antartic ice, followed by a 30ft to 40ft sea level rise and runaway climate change.

We are at a defining moment in history and how quickly we react today, will essentially determine the planet’s future. Let's put BIGGAR at the forefront of this effort.

If these large reductions are necessary, the sooner we begin, the easier it will be and the more chance we have of being successful.
